The TEC SPCK Control Knob is applied to commercial cooking equipment to change operating positions, including off, on, and simmers. It is mounted on a matching D-shaped control shaft and is the main point of contact between the operator and the gas or heat control system of the appliance. It is on grills or other equipment used in foodservice kitchens, where the temperature has to be adjusted during cooking. Being a component of the control assembly, it enables the settings to be altered smoothly during operation. When the knob is destroyed or scribbled over to the point of inaccurate control, it is usually replaced.
