Description

The Delfield RF000072-S Defrost Timer functions as a fundamental element which manages cycles for commercial refrigeration systems. The timer runs on 120V power at 15 amps while its 6-hour frequency includes a 15-minute defrost period for efficient ice and frost control. The Air-O-Tronic technology from this device provides users with specific defrost cycle control which optimizes temperature management and extends food preservation capabilities. This timer works with multiple Delfield models such as the 402, 403, 406, 407, 6000XL and more to stop frost accumulation and decrease energy costs through shorter compressor operation.

  • What maintenance is required for the Delfield RF000072-S Defrost Timer Kit?

Check defrost timer kit regularly to ensure the timer advances and triggers defrost as scheduled. Verify wiring connections remain tight and that the housing stays dry to prevent timer failure from moisture or corrosion.

  • How do I install the Delfield RF000072-S Defrost Timer Kit?

    • Disconnect power to the refrigeration unit.
    • Remove the old defrost timer from the control panel and label wires.
    • Mount the timer kit in the same bracket or cut-out.
    • Reconnect wires according to the wiring schematic that came with the kit.
    • Restore power and observe the unit — the timer should run a 6-hour cooling cycle, then a 15-minute defrost.

  • What are common issues with the Delfield RF000072-S Defrost Timer Kit?

Common problems include the timer motor seizing, worn internal gears causing erratic cycle timing, or failure to switch power to the defrost heater — leading to frost buildup and poor cooling. Moisture ingress or loose wiring often cause these failures.
