Montague 1028-6 Oven Pilot Safety Valve 1/2" FPT 1/4" CCT

Check the Pilot Safety Valve periodically for gas leaks, corrosion, or brittle wiring/insulation. Clean any soot or buildup around the pilot and ensure the thermocouple and coil connections remain secure and dry.

• Turn off and shut off the gas supply to the appliance before starting.
• Remove the old pilot safety valve by disconnecting the pilot tubing and main gas line (1/2″ FPT), and unplug any wiring to the 120V coil.
• Wrap the threads of the 1/2″ female pipe thread opening on the new valve with appropriate gas-rated thread sealant or tape.
• Thread the valve into the gas inlet and tighten securely.
• Reconnect the pilot tubing 1/4″ CCT and main gas line, ensuring proper orientation.
• Reconnect the 120V wiring to the valve coil per the wiring diagram.
• Restore gas supply and power. Depress the red button to allow pilot flow, light the pilot, hold the button 30–45 s until pilot stays lit, then turn the main burner valve ON.

Frequent problems include pilot flame failure leading to automatic gas shut-off, valve not opening due to faulty coil or thermocouple, or gas leaks at fittings because of poor sealing or thread wear. Pilot orifice blockages or dirty pilot burner can also cause the pilot to go out.
