During routine kettle service, inspect the worm and gear for wear, lubrication status, and any metal shavings. Replace the kit if you notice excessive backlash or gear teeth degradation.

• Disconnect power and secure the kettle in the upright position.
• Remove the access cover to expose the tilt drive assembly (worm shaft and gear).
• Unbolt and carefully remove the old worm and segment gear components.
• Clean the mounting area and apply food-safe grease to the new worm and gear.
• Align and install the new worm on the drive shaft, then mount the new segment gear in its proper orientation.
• Torque fasteners to the manufacturer’s spec, reassemble the cover, restore power, and run a test tilt cycle to ensure smooth operation.

Typical problems include worn or stripped teeth, increased backlash or play, and noisy or jerky kettle tilt due to misalignment or poor lubrication.
