The Southbend 1199575 Thermopile is an accurate heat sensing element which transforms heat energy into electrical voltage to operate the controls of gas appliances. It is used in commercial kitchen equipment, and operates by sensing the heat of the pilot flame and feeding a small electrical current, which in turn allows the gas valve to stay open so that the burner can continue to burn. This will provide safe and efficient operation by cutting off the gas supply in the event of a flame being extinguished.
