The American Range 10485 Thermocouple is 18-inch flame-sensing part with a rating of 20-30 millivolts to be used in the Range 1980 Series gas equipment. It operates on the concept of sensing the existence of pilot flame and relaying a message to the gas safety valve to sustain the flow of fuel. This thermocouple is fitted in the pilot assembly and is usually found in commercial ranges and ovens. It is a component of the system that facilitates the safe functioning of the ignition by cutting off the gas supply in case the pilot flame is extinguished.
